3 Steps to Plan a Nursery or Kids Room

3 Steps to Plan a Nursery or Kids Room

Let’s talk about how to create a themed room for your precious little ones (and why you even need a theme)! 🌟

Planning a nursery or updating your child's room can be overwhelming. Without a theme, it can feel like trying to fit random puzzle pieces together from different boxes. On the other hand, with a theme, all the pieces are part of the same puzzle AND you have the picture on the puzzle box to refer to. Similarly, a theme can be a guide for your room decorating process and helps to create a beautiful and cohesive look. Plus it makes the process way more fun and decision making a lot easier and quicker! 🧩✨

Here’s how to get started:

1. Choose a Theme:

From woodland creatures to ocean adventures, this step sets the stage for everything else.

Consider your child’s interests or, if they are still young, the kinds of interests you can’t wait to introduce them to. Remember that you’ll spend a lot of time in this room too so pick something that also brings you joy!

2. Choose 3-5 Coordinating Colors:

Once you have a theme, it’s tempting to jump right in and pick everything you adore that fits the theme.

Here’s a tip! Decide on 3-5 matching colours first. This becomes your palette when looking for decor and room elements. Sticking to a limited color palette, helps enhance the aesthetic and gives your space a cohesive, thoughtfully designed look.

3. Let the Decorating Begin!

Here comes the exciting part, let your creativity take over as you explore all the fun and beautiful things you can add to the room following the theme and color palette that you decided on in the previous steps.

Don’t limit yourself to decor items - think about practical items too, like storage solutions or cozy bedding that fits the theme, baby mobiles, toys and eye-catching wall art.

Oh and one more tip

Kids interests will change over time so go with items that can grow with them or be easily updated.

I hope these steps inspire you to create a beautiful space where your little one can dream, play, and grow surrounded by love and creativity. ❤️✨

Happy decorating!
